Dublin, GA – Moose the golden retriever has been missing since Monday in the area of Palmetto Lakes and Walke Dairy road.
He was wearing a red collar with contact information on his tag. He is also micro chipped. If you find him, please bring him to a local vet or shelter so they can contact his humans. A possible reward is being offered.
I hope this story has a happy ending. Thank heavens for the media who have been very supportive. The local news even did a story:
This father’s day was an extra special day for the Braun family of El Dorado Hills, CA. In October of 2012, Murphy, their female golden retriever, was lost during a camping trip to Hell Hole Reservoir. The Braun family posted flyers and started a Facebook page
It appears that Murphy may have lived on roadkill and campers scraps and survived two cold winters in the Tahoe National Forest. There also seem to have been several sightings of the dog over the last two years, but no one could capture her.
This past months some campers contacted the Brauns after seeing the dog near their campsite. On June 7th, the Brauns brought one of Murphy’s blankets and Nathan’s baseball hat to camp host Jason Smith. That same night, after laying out the belongings, Murphy appeared and curled up on them. (how sweet is that?)
Eventually they were able to get a leash on Murphy, even though she was very skittish and took awhile to warm up to the fact that she was safe.
Finally this past Sunday, the Braun family, including their three children were reunited with their pet. According to a story from News10.net, they are 99 percent sure the dog is Murphy, and are just waiting on DNA results.
This golden retriever internet star doesn’t care what sport, or team…he just loves to watch sports. According to YouTube poster Bearaids “He will watch the games for hours and doesn’t care who wins or loses, as long as he can watch them play” Here is Georges cheering on players during The World Cup.

Interesting article from Klooff ranking different breeds and which are popular in what countries. The poodle reigns supreme in France, while in the U.S the French Bulldog is a superstar. Africa and India both favor the German shepherd. This is proof that Canadians have great taste, we chose the glorious golden retriever. Based on data from Klooff a popular pet photo sharing app, here are the breeds based on country:
Holland, MA – A very grateful golden retriever kissed the faces of his rescuers last Sunday after a scary incident. The dog was accidentally run over by his owner in their driveway. When the owner realized this she called for help. State troopers Paul Bertozzi and Daniel Nunes attended, along with Animal Control Officer Wendy LaSage.
They used a jack to raise the vehicle and free the golden. When the was free, it ran over and started giving the troopers slobbery kisses!
Hudsonville, MI – A golden retriever named Walton was part of Freedom Christian High School’s graduation ceremony. The service dog accompanied Desi as she received her diploma. Desi suffers from Cerebral Palsy and received the service dog about 4 years ago. Prior to that she was forced to use a wheelchair. Desi says holding her up is a full time job, and that she wouldn’t want to experience this without him. They have attended high school together, and are now graduating together. Delhi, ON (Canada) Ok, this story is close to home, so I post with great pride. Eight and a half year old golden retriever Amy celebrated her 1000th visit as a St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog on May 21, 2014. Amy visits the local hospital, nursing homes, special events and Delhi Public School, where youngsters were are to practice their reading. She is only one of about 12 dogs who have reached this milestone in the program in the last 20 years. It is believed she may be the youngest dog to achieve this goal.
Sadly, Amy’s owner Pat Nakonechny, who was looking forward to this accomplishment, passed away a month ago. They were celebrated with an assembly at Delhi Public School and a tree was planted in their honour in front of the school. Her husband Dave said she loved the program, and would talk about it “to anyone who would listen” Amy and Nakonechny made three visits a week, every week for seven years.
Thanks Pat and Amy, for all of your time and effort. It won’t be forgotten.
Louisville, KY – A prominent racehorse family, owner of Kentucky Derby’s “Ride on Curlin” were distraught when their 13 year old golden retriever Roscoe went missing. Strangely, he was returned after about 12 hours, with a shaved right hip and 10 stitches where a small patch of inflammation had plagued him for about 10 years.
Pocopson, PA – On 21 May 2014 about 50 firefighters from local and surrounding departments fought a 2 alarm blaze while a golden retriever lay afraid in the basement. The homeowner, Michael Pacifico, who was in the shower when the fire started, was alerted of the fire by a neighbor. The fire had started in the garage. The homeowner was unable to find Cody, a 3 year old rescued golden retriever. After almost an hour, while owners Michael and Lisa watched in horror, firefighters found Cody in the basement and brought her to the safety of her very happy owners.
Reporter Michael Price from The Daily Local News in West Chester, PA captured the moment on video: (skip to 2:55 if you don’t want to watch the house burn for several minutes)
“It felt really good. I feel like I’m in a dream right now” said Cody’s owner Lisa Pacifico in an article from the Daily Local News about seeing her dog being brought from the home.
