5 Things I Learned from Dog Fostering 101

It has been a while since I posted, and it isn’t because I have been visiting fabulous places or finally writing my novel.  The reason?  I have been walking dogs, bathing dogs, throwing sticks and balls, and generally having a  good time.  Yes, we have a dog! Actually, we have had three in the past 2 months. Foster dogs, that is.  What a rewarding experience!

After completing the fostering application and passing a home inspection, we waited with excitement until we could get our first dog.  It didn’t take long.  Within a few days the Intake Coordinator contacted us to see if we wanted to take Maxwell.  She explained that, in his previous life, he had not been well cared for and was at the vet’s being checked for fleas, ticks, parasites and heartworms, but would be ready in a couple of days.

Were we interested in fostering him?   “Yes!”…
